Botany Lesson 1
Welcome to your first Waldorf- Inspired Botany class. Today we will primarily focus on getting ready for all the awesome activities we will be doing in this course.
The first thing you should do is print off the attached syllabus and look over it. It outlines each lesson as well as what tasks you are expected to do for each lesson and what you should do to prepare for the following lesson.
Some of the things you will see are:
You have one more task for today. You will begin your Main Lesson Book today. This is where your notes and drawings about the plants we discuss, readings, and botanists will be kept. You will also put your 5 plant drawings in your main lesson book. This can be an actual Main Lesson Book that you buy from a Waldorf resource or it can be as simple as a blank sketchbook. I do encourage you to use a sketchpad that is coil bound and has no lines. Alternatively, some families choose to do their lesson books on loose leaf blank paper and then bind them at the end.
Once you have your main lesson book you will need to create a title page for it. Please use the following words on your title page:
Botany By: Your Name
I also encourage you to give your title page a border and make it look neat and attractive. You can also add any other kind of illustrations to this page that are related to plants and botany if you would like.
Finally, your next lesson will be your first video lesson. You will need to have your lesson book and pencils with you to take down notes and do your drawings. Please let me know if you have any questions!
