Enrichment Activities Information:
During our video lessons, we will see, hear, and feel the numbers. The following activities will also give you the opportunity to use your sense of smell and taste to experience your numbers. Over the next week try to do these activities when you have time. You are welcome to post pictures, videos or other stories about your experience with these activities in this post along with your lesson book pages.
Smell
We smell lots of different things around us every day. As you go through the week see if you can identify the single scents around you that make up the whole of our world.
Gather several different essential oils, a carrier oil, and a small bowl. Smell the cap of each oil by itself. Add a small amount of carrier oil to the bowl and add one drop of oil at a time, smelling the oil every time you add another drop. Lots of drops of 1 create another 1 whole scent.
Taste
Make a simple soup with potatoes, carrots, turnips, parsnips, or whatever other vegetables you would like in a base of broth. Add in any spices and herbs that you might like. When cutting your vegetables be sure and cut them into chunks so that you can taste each vegetable individually. Once you have tried each individual vegetable take a small bit of each vegetable and try them all together. Notice the different tastes of each individual vegetable and then the taste of the vegetables together. One is represented in each vegetable and one is represented in the whole of the soup.
I hope that you enjoy learning about numbers this week!
