Herbology 201
Herbology 201 includes advanced and complex herbal preparations as well as plant profiles and information for even more herbs than our Herbology 101 course. While you do not have to take Herbology 101 to take this course we do recommend that you have some basic knowledge of herbology before beginning.
Each week we will study 2 new herbs including information about their history, uses and growing tips.
We will also study how each of these herbs can be used in different types of preparations including fomentations, poultices, linaments, spagyrics, granules, capsules, pills and lozenges.
Student's final project will involve creating their own herbal preparation based on the base recipes they are given in class. These recipes can be found in the class workbook.
The following herbs and preparations will be discussed during class. Week 1- Slippery Elm & Oak, Poultices Week 2- Eucalyptus & Lobelia, Linaments Week 3- Chapparal & Camphor, Fomentations Week 4 -Licorice & Turmeric, Capsules Week 5 - Nigella & Anise seed, Pills & Lozenges Week 6- Ginseng & Woad, Granules Week 7 - Motherwort & Mugwort, Spagyrics Week 8 - Temperament and Typology |
