Quality of Numebers - Self-Guided
What if we thought of math not only in the abstract way that it's typically taught using pencil and paper but also by using our senses?
Using Waldorf methods we learn not only the values and abstract concept of numbers written on paper, but also about the quality of numbers. In order to accomplish this, we use stories and poems as well as hands-on activities that engage each of the senses. In learning the numbers this way we also introduce skip counting, thus setting the stage for the second part of Waldorf Class 1 math which is learning the 4 operations.
Video lessons will include songs, stories, poems, and activities for students to do. Each lesson will also include hands-on activities to do outside of the video lesson times. Students will need a main lesson book or sketchbook plus stick and block crayons. Students will be creating their own lesson book so please note that there will be considerable drawing involved in this class. Students will also be asked to observe the number in their home throughout the week as homework and additional hands-on activities and observation will be suggested as well.
